Employer Profile: Melaleuca.com

Melaleuca.com is a health and wellness company based out of Idaho Falls, Idaho. It is one of the largest employers in southeast Idaho and has been around since 1985.

Melaleuca manufactures and sells over 450 different consumer products. These include nutritional supplements, personal care items, fitness foods, cleaning products, essential oils, coffee and specialty drinks, and a whole lot more. Basically, its a small grocery store where customers do all of their shopping online and directly from the manufacturer.

Melaleuca operates in 19 different countries around the globe, but most of its roughly 4,000 employees live and work in the United States. The majority of them work in Idaho, at the company’s headquarters, but there are also hundreds of employees who work at a manufacturing plant in Tennessee.

Melaleuca offers careers in marketing, sales, research and development, finance, customer service, distribution, and more. Full-time employees receive benefits that include 401k, medical insurance, PTO, employee assistance program, and more. Other benefits include longevity bonuses (including a $20,000 net check once you hit your 20-year mark with the company), profit sharing, and for employees who work at the main office, there is a concierge service, gym, game room, and restaurant.

Melaleuca also sponsors a fireworks show each Independence Day in Idaho Falls. Year after year, it is the largest Fourth of July display west of the Mississippi.

One of the draws to working at Melaleuca is its location among some of the most beautiful natural scenery in the country. It is only 90 minutes away from both Yellowstone National Park and Grand Teton National Park. There is hiking and fishing in the summer, and skiing in the winter. The cost of living in Idaho Falls is also extremely low.

For the longest time, Melaleuca employees worked out of old buildings that the company purchased and remodeled or refurbished. This is one of the reasons why Melaleuca is a completely debt-free company. But in late 2104, the company finished a brand-new glimmering facility that the company now calls home. More than 1,500 employees work there, but it was built to hold three times that many workers.

Melaleuca has grown steadily during its 30-year existence, and continues to hire new employees.
